Factory girls: Voices from the heart of China, by Leslie T. Chang

Lectures

This is a great book. The author is Chinese-American. She spent a few years in Dongguan, China, following the life of a few factory girls. These girls moved from a rural area to city life in search of wealth, adventure, meaning, … I like the author’s positive approach. She focuses on the girls’ lives, their motivations, their interests. I was impressed by the faculty of adaptation of these girls, always finding a way through.
